Commissioner Cary Nix

Commissioner Cary Nix is a lifetime resident of Smith County. Born and raised in
Whitehouse, Texas. Commissioner Nix is a graduate of Tyler Junior College and attended
Stephen F. Austin University before returning to Whitehouse to take over the family
business as a rose grower.
Commissioner Nix is a conservative republican representing Precinct 2, which stretches
across the south-west portion of the county and includes the cities of Whitehouse,
Troup and a portion of Tyler.
Cary has been married to his wife Sharon for 32 years. They are surrounded by their
loving family, sons Jordan and Chad, daughter-in-law Emily, and granddaughter Addison.

The Nix’s are members of the First Baptist Church of Whitehouse, where Commissioner
Nix serves as a Deacon and teaches Sunday school. He is the current president of
the Texas Rose Research Foundation and serves on the Board of Directors for the
Tyler Rose Museum. He is a member of the Whitehouse and Greater Tyler Area Chambers
of Commerce and the Smith County Better Business Bureau. He is also a member of
the Smith County Republican Women.
