Comprehensive Plan To Aleviate Jail Overcrowding

The 2010 Comprehensive Plan to Alleviate Jail Overcrowding was revealed to a crowd
of more that 100 on Tuesday, July 20, during a special meeting of the Smith County
Commissioners Court. The latest plan features the addition of 384 beds to the downtown
site, addresses public and employee safety issues and includes an infirmary to cut
inmate hospital expenses.
