Beginning with Texas tax sales conducted on or after October 7, 2003, purchasers
at a tax foreclosure sale must present to the sheriff or constable conducting the
sale a written statement issued to the purchaser by the Smith County Tax Assessor-Collector
stating that the purchaser owes no delinquent property taxes to the county and that
there are no known or reported delinquent taxes owed by the purchaser to any school
district or city with territory in Smith County. The law further prohibits the sheriff
or constable from delivering a tax deed to any purchaser who fails to present to
the officer this required written statement issued by the county tax assessor-collector.
To obtain this needed statement, complete the following form and return to the Smith
County Tax Office. Remember to enclose the appropriate $10.00 fee
or your request will not be processed.
