According to HB 2741 recently passed by the 83rd legislative session, logging companies must notify counties when they are going to be involved in timber work within the county. This information allows the county to recoup any road damages from the companies if they damage county roads while doing their work. Smith County is now being requested by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to establish a speciic email address where logging companies can send notification of upcoming jobs. Please use the following email, TexasTimberPermitNotice@smith-county.com , when reporting timber work within Smith County.
