Smith County HR Director Appointed
Esmeralda Delmas has been named Human Resources Director for Smith County.
The Smith County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday to appoint her to the position.
Mrs. Delmas said her passion has always been helping others, and she believed she could do this through pursuing a career in human resources.
“This was a very easy decision to make and a natural step for Esmeralda,” County Judge Nathaniel Moran said, adding that she was trained by outgoing HR Director Leonardo Brown. “She is extremely qualified and we have the utmost confidence in Esmeralda. We are excited that she is going to step into that role.”
She was born in Tyler and studied at Tyler Junior College before earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in human resources development from the University of Texas at Tyler.
She started working as a probation officer for Smith County in 2008, and patiently waited for a position in human resources to open up, she said. Mrs. Delmas became HR Coordinator in 2015.
Now, she is being promoted to HR Director.
“I’m here to continue to assist our county employees and officials and help maximize the efficiency of the overall county,” she said of her new position.
Before going to work for Smith County, Mrs. Delmas worked as an HR supervisor for a private company, as clinic manager for a local hospital and as a call center supervisor.
