Tax Offices in Noonday and Troup Reopen

UPDATE, MAY 26, 2020:  The Smith County Tax Office Substations in Noonday and Troup reopened to the public on Tuesday, May 26.

Residents can pay their property taxes or renew their auto registration at the Noonday Tax Office, located at 15405 Highway 155 South. Hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 903-590-4824.

Residents can renew their auto registration at the Troup Tax Office Substation, located at 313 E. Duval St. in Troup, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 903-590-4741.

On May 13, the Tax Office in Lindale opened back up to serve the public. Smith County residents can go to the substation at 2616 S. Main Street in Lindale, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to pay property taxes or renew their auto registration.

The main Smith County Tax Office, located in the Cotton Belt Building at 1517 W. Front St. in Tyler, opened its doors to the public May 1.

Although their offices are open, Smith County Tax Assessor-Collection Gary Barber said people can still pay their property taxes over the phone, online or through mail. People can renew their auto registration online or through the mail. For more information or to make a payment, call 903-590-2920 for property taxes and 903-590-2900 for auto registration. MAY 13, 2020: The Smith County Tax Office Substation in Lindale opened back up to serve the public on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.

Smith County residents can go to the substation, housed at the Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace and Constable’s Office, at 2616 S. Main Street in Lindale, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to pay property taxes or renew their auto registration.

Tax Assessor-Collector Gary Barber said the Tax Office Substations in Noonday and Troup remain closed but he is working on opening them as soon as possible.

The main Tax Office, in the Cotton Belt Building in Tyler, reopened to the public on May 1.

Although they are open, Barber said people can still pay their property taxes over the phone, online or through the mail. People can renew their auto registration online or through the mail.
