Judge Jon W. Johnson
Judge Jon Johnson was elected in November 2018, and sworn into office on January 1, 2019. He replaced Justice of the Peace James Cowart, who retired on December 31, 2018.
Since beginning his criminal justice career in 1989, Judge Johnson has worked as a federal prison case manager, federal chief probation officer, Tyler Junior College criminal justice adjunct instructor and criminal justice teacher at Lindale High School.
Judge Johnson holds a Master of Arts Degree in Criminology and Corrections from Sam Houston State University.
April 19, 2020 UPDATE
Due to health and safety concerns regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Justice Court, Precinct 5 office in Lindale, Texas, will be operating with our lobby closed to the public and under limited operations until at least June 1, 2020.
Note: All non-essential court proceedings will be rescheduled until after June 1, 2020.
All evictions (commercial and residential) are rescheduled after June 1, 2020.
Exception: “Landlords may proceed with eviction cases only if the actions of the occupants “pose an imminent threat” of physical harm to the landlord, the landlord’s employees or other tenants, or if the occupants are engaging in criminal activity.”
Please contact the court immediately if this eviction exception applies.
Class C ticket appearances are rescheduled after June 1, 2020.
