Judge Kerry L. Russell

After Texas Governor Abbott's disaster proclamation entered March 13, 2020, the Texas Supreme Court and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals  entered their "First  Emergency Order Regarding the COVID-19 State of Disaster" modifying and suspending certain provisions related to court proceedings. The order that applies in all courts and to all case types is meant to provide courts with flexibility to delay or modify proceedings as necessary to address the threat of the COVID-19 disaster. The Emergency Order and Governor Abbott's disaster proclamation are posted.

THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that every attorney and participant in a proceeding in the 7th Judicial District Court of Smith County shall immediately alert the Court staff if the attorney or participant has, or knows of another participant who has COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, or a fever, cough or sneezing.  See the below links for more information.
